I am registered with several different regulatory organisations.

In relation to my Clinical Hypnotherapy practice I am a member of the National Council for Hypnotherapists (NCH), a leading regulatory body of hypnotherapists ensuring the highest standards. I am also registered within this discipline with the Complementary Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) whose key function is to enhance public protection by setting standards for its complementary therapists.

Concerning my Stress Management Services I am a member of The International Stress Management Association (ISMA) a leading professional body for stress management which sets standards and encourages excellence in professional practice for wellbeing and performance.

I regularly undertake continuing professional development and abide by strict codes of practice and ethics set by these professional organisations. I have professional liability insurance and I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) to handle personal data.

I am also a qualified dental surgeon & I am registered with the General Dental Council(GDC).

My background and how it influences how I work today

I worked for over twenty years as a dentist and built a reputation as a caring conscientious dentist with very high clinical and professional standards. Due to my sympathetic and patient manner I attracted a lot of nervous and anxious patients. I found helping my patients to overcome their anxiety, fears and phobias related to dental treatment was very rewarding.

However having always had a fascination with psychology and anything to do with human behaviour when I started to work part-time in dentistry I seized the opportunity to train as a Clinical Hypnotherapist. I chose a course that was the most comprehensive I could find and which was externally accredited by the National Council of Hypnotherapy as standards are important to me.

Once I started my hypnotherapy training I was fascinated and thirsty to learn more and more about the mind. This led me on a journey of further training in additional therapies namely cognitive behavioural therapy and neuro-linguistic programming. This extensive training I believe has given me a greater understanding; more expertise and a more balanced approach to helping people overcome their problems by using a combined approach.

As I was from a professional background I waited until I felt confident that I could provide a thoroughly competent well rounded professional service and then I set up Mindbalance Hypnotherapy. Since then I have enjoyed helping lots of people overcome their problems and feel better about themselves which I find very rewarding.

Since setting up my Mindbalance Hypnotherapy business I have also now qualified in Stress Management and I’m a member of the International Stress Management Association which only allows membership to people who are adequately qualified in Stress Management. I provide help for personal and workplace stress, working with individuals, groups or in the workplace. Although I see clients for many different problems I have a special interest in hypnotherapy for building confidence, boosting self esteem, overcoming anxiety and restoring emotional wellbeing. With my dentistry background I also have an interest in dental issues that can be helped holistically.

Working for many years in dentistry has also given me excellent people skills in being able to work with people within a team and meeting and treating patients from all different walks of life. Being a dentist in all the surveys comes up as one of the most inherently stressful jobs so I feel I have first hand experience at working under pressure whilst needing to deliver high standards and personal care. I have drawn on my many years of experience to deliver a caring professional service to my hypnotherapy clients and my varied roles in both the NHS and private sector  have enabled me to have the necessary insight to be able to deliver realistic and effective stress management techniques which boost productivity and promote employee satisfaction in the workplace.
