Why diets don’t work
If  you have tried lots of diets but they always fail long-term, leaving you feeling fed up and frustrated don’t despair; you may be one of the millions of people who are overweight because they have a long- term emotional relationship with food. Many overweight people use food emotionally when they feel sad, stressed or bored as they find it comforting as well as pleasurable. Often emotional foods are high in sugar and fat and so are high in calories so you keep getting bigger and bigger.

The reason why diets don’t work long-term in my opinion is because they are all about rigidity, avoidance of certain food, focussing on calories in food, rules, rules and more rules. Initially our motivation can get us to follow the particular diet but then the rules become too difficult. This is because without dealing with any underlying emotional issues, however motivated a person is, the subconscious mind which controls our eating patterns will always win over a person’s willpower with the result that diets invariably fail.
