Communication is the cornerstone of all good relationships in your personal life and at work. A good communicator expresses themselves clearly, easily and confidently. They are also aware of the other person or people’s reaction to what they are saying and also have good listening skills. They can be assertive where necessary without the need to intimidate or bully. This set of skills generally brings them good fortune in relationships and people respect them and enjoy their company. Professionally they can influence people and get the best out of their colleagues so they often do well at work.

Communication is also not just what we say; it is how we say it and our body language. In fact our body language and tone have more impact on others than the exact words we use. We learn early on in life how to communicate and to react to situations or people by watching those around us and then often still habitually react that same way in adulthood when we feel uncomfortable, vulnerable or threatened. Also how we feel about ourselves (our self esteem) and how confident we are can change the way we communicate within a given situation.
