We learn early on in life how to communicate and to react to situations or people by watching those around us and then often still habitually react that same way in adulthood when we feel uncomfortable, vulnerable or threatened. Also how we feel about ourselves (our self esteem) and how confident we are can change the way we communicate within a given situation.
